00/POSITIONING

You can no longer assume what's in front of you is human.

Egregium is the trust layer that certifies the answer. We are an independent conformity-assessment body — we audit entities and artifacts against a published standard, and issue the attestation.

ONE BASELINE
01/THE THESIS

In a world where AI generates human-like data, you can no longer assume the entity or dataset in front of you is real.

02/THE ATTESTATION ENGINE

Run a live conformity assessment.

Every assessment is measured against the same verified-human reference corpus — the calibration standard both product lines depend on.

03/WHAT WE CERTIFY

Two lines. One baseline. Opposite directions.

LINE 01 — IS IT REAL?

Proof of Human COMMERCIAL

Attestation that a person is human — not an AI impersonator — and that data genuinely originated from humans. Fraud prevention and provenance, certified.

  • Survey-fraud defense for research panels
  • Bot & impersonation exposure for platforms
  • Provenance of human-origin datasets
LINE 02 — GOOD ENOUGH?

Synthetic Data Viability NEUTRAL

Independent audit certifying whether a third party's synthetic data product is a viable substitute for human-sourced data, against a defined standard.

  • Fidelity measured against the human baseline
  • Neutral third-party validation for vendors
  • Procurement assurance for buyers
04/THE MOAT

The reference data is the defensible asset — not an AI capability.

You cannot certify "this is human" without a reference for human. You cannot certify "this synthetic product is good enough" without a human baseline to measure fidelity against. The verified-human corpus is that calibration standard.

05/WHY THE INCENTIVES ALIGN

A credible "yes, this is viable" grows the market that needs us — it doesn't cannibalize it.

The more synthetic data proliferates and the more viable it becomes, the harder — and more valuable — it is to tell real from synthetic. Which expands demand for proof of human.

A/CERTIFICATION SCOPE

What we certify.

Two certification lines rest on a single foundation: an authoritative ground truth of authentic human behavior and data. One asks is it real; the other asks is the substitute good enough.

LINE 01
IS IT REAL?
COMMERCIAL PRODUCT

Proof of Human

Attestation that a person is human — not an AI impersonator — and that data originated from humans. This is fraud prevention and provenance, formalized into a certificate.

WHO BUYS

Research panels

Survey-fraud defense — keep AI respondents out of human datasets.

WHO BUYS

Exposed platforms

Defense against bots and impersonation at the account layer.

WHO BUYS

Data buyers

Anyone needing certified provenance of human-origin data.

LINE 02
GOOD ENOUGH?
NEUTRAL AUDIT

Synthetic Data Viability

An independent audit certifying whether a third party's synthetic data product is a viable substitute for human-sourced data, measured against a defined standard and the human baseline.

WHO BUYS

Synthetic-data vendors

Neutral third-party validation that turns a claim into a credential.

WHO BUYS

Synthetic-data buyers

Procurement assurance before substituting synthetic for human data.

We sell the attestation — never the audited artifact. Perceived independence is what the certification is worth.

B/THE AUDIT PROCESS

How an Egregium audit works.

Conformity assessment, run the way a standards body runs it: a defined standard, a calibration baseline, and a traceable certificate at the end.

STEP 01

Submission

An entity or synthetic-data product is submitted for assessment, with its provenance metadata and access for testing.

STEP 02

Calibration

The subject is positioned against the verified-human reference corpus — the calibration standard that anchors every measurement.

STEP 03

Assessment

Automated and analyst review run the standard's battery: behavioral, distributional, liveness and provenance checks, scored against the baseline.

STEP 04

Adjudication

Results are reviewed against the published pass/fail criteria. Conditional outcomes carry documented remediation.

STEP 05

Attestation

A signed, traceable certificate is issued with a unique attestation ID and a defined validity period, independently verifiable.

C/THE STANDARD WE CERTIFY TO
PROOF OF HUMAN

Anchored to external work

We anchor to the emerging external body of work on human verification and provenance — an auditor's credibility is downstream of the standard it certifies to.

SYNTHETIC DATA VIABILITY

Authored, then blessed

A recognized external standard does not yet exist. Egregium authors the pass/fail criteria by default — and gets them blessed by a neutral party to stay credible.

D/ABOUT THE LAB

An auditor is only as credible as the standard it certifies to.

Egregium is a conformity-assessment body. We hold no stake in the artifacts we test — our entire value is independence and the baseline we measure against.

01/THE REFERENCE CORPUS

The defensible asset is the reference data — not an AI capability.

Inherited from the panel business, the verified-human reference corpus is the calibration standard behind both lines. It is what lets us say "this is human," and what lets us measure how close a synthetic substitute really is.

02/KEY DEPENDENCY & OPEN QUESTIONS
Q1

Whose standard for "human"?

For proof-of-human we anchor to the emerging external body of work — and must track it as it matures.

Q2

Who blesses the synthetic standard?

No external standard exists yet. We author the criteria — and must get a neutral party to ratify them.

The more synthetic data proliferates, the more valuable it becomes to prove what's real. The two lines reinforce each other — they don't conflict.
